Dr. James Hampton joined the School of Agriculture in the Fall of 2011 as an Assistant Professor of Animal Science. His current teaching load includes courses in Anatomy and Physiology and Reproductive Physiology. Dr. Hampton is the advisor for the Alpha Zeta Honors Fraternity.
Dr. Hampton was raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey on a 350 acre produce/grain/livestock farm. He earned his BS in Animal Science from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Upon completion, he earned his MS in Animal Physiology from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. His PhD work was done in Animal Science at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri and his Postdoc was completed at The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, Maine.
He is excited to be working at a University whose main mission is the education of students and he looks forward to helping lay the foundations for our Animal Science students to have long and successful careers!
