I Knew UWP Would Make a Great Home for Me

I chose to come to UW-Platteville before I was even a senior in high school. My older brother had attended UWP, and his positive experience inspired me to look into their programs further. Along with the energetic atmosphere and the fields of study available, I knew UW-Platteville would make a great home for me.

Pouring Molten Metal, Sand Casting and Lots More

The strengths of my major include the hands-on experiences and the one to one lecture to lab ratio. Everything from pouring molten metal for a sand casting to wiring an integrated circuit functioning as a thermo regulator, to the PLC programming of an assembly cell; I have gained valuable experience in my field of study.

A Classroom Outside the Classroom

One of the biggest highlights of my experience at UW-Platteville is the time spent with the track and cross country teams. It has been my classroom outside of the classroom, giving me strength to get up after I have fallen and continue to achieve my goals. These are tactics that I will carry with me later in life.

One of the best parts of being a college student is enjoying the freedom of being away from home, the added responsibilities, and the companionship of new friends. Additionally, some of my other significant moments are when I work hard for something I want and achieve it; for instance, diligently studying for hours for an exam to later receive an A. This is true for track and cross country; to sacrifice over 12 hours per week dedicated to running, to later achieve a time you've had your heart set on breaking gives me a sense of pride to carry with the rest of the following week.

A Co-Op at HUSCO International

My recent co-op at HUSCO International has been an immense asset to my learning environment. I can relate everything I learned on the job to my current course work. It has also given me a taste of the real word, and a perspective of the responsibilities I'll be undertaking after graduation.
