I knew that Platteville had the best technology education program in the state because of its hands-on teaching methods, so it wasn’t a hard decision after I knew that I wanted to be a tech ed teacher. Other colleges with the same program won’t put students in the labs until their junior or senior years.
I really enjoyed my Introduction to Education with Dale Henze. He is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. He presents information that is very applicable to real life in education without making it dull. Another great professor on campus is Kris Wright in the biology department. I had him for an introductory biology and he presented the information in a “circular” fashion. He would always make sure that we knew all of the material so we could be successful. He challenged us to get a class average above a B which made us feel that he cared about how we did.
I have been a tour guide for the last year and a half and have met a number a different people, which has given me experience for the future. I also have been involved with Hall Council which has led me to becoming an RA on campus. The whole experience has been fun and exciting. I have learned never to be afraid of trying something new or meeting new people. That’s what makes life interesting. I also have learned that the friends you make right when you get to school will influence you for the rest of your life. This is the time to find who you are as a person and what you truly believe. Get involved in everything you can and make this experience worth it.
One of the most memorable moments that I have experienced in Platteville was the fall of 2005. I love being on campus when the weather is amazing. There’s always something to do – outdoor movies, the lighting of the M, frisbee golf, basketball, or just taking a walk. I also enjoyed our intramural softball team. We had some great games and they were always fun.
