Friendly Campus Community

At UWP, people can make deeper connections with other students and faculty on the campus. The UWP campus is small making it easy to get to classes and meetings on time but it is large enough that there are many great organizations to get involved with. I have been able to get involved in a multitude of student organizations and have even held executive positions in many of those organizations. One of my favorite aspects of UWP is the friendliness of the faculty, staff and administration. I really like being able to walk past one of my professors and have him or her know me by name. I know larger campuses are not able to have as much one-on-one student faculty communication. I admire how courteous the administration and staff are to the needs and best interests of the students.

Life-long Relationships

Since many of the students come from small towns, UWP tends to have the small town personality. Everyone is friendly and helpful. It is really nice to be able to feel at home while I am on campus. The friendships I have made here are everlasting. The people I met my freshman year are still some of my best friends today. Many of them have already graduated, but we continue to stay in touch. Every year, I meet more and more outstanding students. Age and class don’t matter. Whether a person is a freshman or a 5th year senior, everyone is treated with respect. My friendships have given me very strong ties to this university. After graduation, I look forward to coming back to this home away from home.

Love For My Brothers

Joining Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp), a social, male fraternity, has been the best organization I have been involved with since coming to UWP. I joined the chapter during my junior year, allowing me to experience college life both in and out of Greek life. I have made some outstanding friends but I have also been able to further develop myself. I was elected vice president of Member Development, a person who is in charge of developing challenge meetings and sound mind/ sound body activities, during my second semester in the chapter and president in my third semester. I am honored that my brothers have chosen me to lead them. Leading the brothers of SigEp has been one of the greatest challenges of my college career. No class can teach someone how to lead a group of 40 men in fraternal values and principles based on virtue, diligence and brotherly love. I have grown a lot in the position and the skills that I am learning will be a great asset in the working world. SigEp has also been my greatest source of pride and it will remain with me for my entire life.
