UWP Tech Ed Second to None

The UWP technology education program is second to none! To me there is nothing like learning by doing and UWP offers this approach to Tech. Ed. The metals program with Dr. Kyle Metzloff and the Tech. Ed. Program with Dr. Francis Steck are two of the highest caliber programs. It is truly a pleasure being involved with these programs and professors.

Teaching School after School

In my spare time, I work for the Potosi School District as an after school instructor. This gives me the opportunity to hone my skills as a teacher and work with an excellent group of students. Not only are there many jobs off campus, but it is also important to realize that the university offers a wide range of job opportunities to interested students. Jobs range from dining service positions to lab assistant positions, all offering valuable experiences and opportunities.

Avid Outdoorsman Finds Plenty to Do In Platteville

UWP is literally full of academic, professional and special interest organizations. These organizations allow students to develop relationships and contacts within their future profession and just plain socialize. In my free time, I enjoy snowmobiling and even if I am unable to do so here, I get the opportunity to socialize with people of the same interests while wrenching on the SAE snowmobile. I also enjoy metal fabrication, woodworking and mechanics and being involved in the Technology Education Association also allows me to fulfill my interests with like minded individuals while working on our cedar strip canoe or various other projects. Not only are these organizations a blast to be in, but they have helped me to make future career contacts through national and state conferences and competitions. As an avid outdoorsman, Platteville also has many things to engage my outdoor interests. I love hunting and fishing, and am able to fulfill my interest on some of the area lakes, rivers, and public lands.

Finding Teamwork through the TEA and Homecoming Court

For me, I have two very memorable moments so far in my college career. One of the most memorable is when I was elected president of the UWP Technology Education Association (TEA). I was involved with the UWP TEA since the first semester of my freshman year and was able to watch it progress and grow, however I always wanted the chance to take the reins as an officer and see how I could help it. Well I got my chance when I was elected as president with an excellent officer team. The second most memorable moment of my college career is when I was selected as a member of the 2005 Homecoming court. This gave me an opportunity to give something back to a university that has meant so much to me and helped me grow and progress as an individual. It was truly an honor, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved with homecoming in such a manner.
