Most Versatile Program in the West

I was looking at schools offering a program in forensic science, and UWP’s chemistry-criminalistics program was the most versatile program in the Midwest. When I came to visit campus in the summer, my mom and I fell in love with the campus and the faculty. The personal attention was a unique and refreshing experience. The chemistry program is top rate at UWP. Dr. Mendis has been my research advisor for the past two years, and he has served as a mentor for research work, class work and my life after UWP.

Beyond the Classroom

I have had two internships during my time at UWP, and both have been great experiences. There are so many things to learn beyond the classroom that internships offer. I have also learned a lot about myself by working as a resident assistant on campus. Being an RA helped me manage my time, introduced me to some of my best friends, and helped me discover a lot of the services that UWP offers to its students.

Downtown Fun and Amazing Scenery

Coming from a larger city, I really enjoy the close-knit feel of the Platteville area. The unique shops are fun to visit because it’s not uncommon to talk to the owners and hear their recommendations for other places in the area to visit. Every year I am wowed by the amazing scenery that UWP offers on its campus. The trails and the creek make you forget that you are still on a college campus.

From Platteville to San Francisco

One of the most memorable experiences I’ve had at UWP was a trip out to San Francisco for an undergraduate poster competition. It was awesome to be part of such a huge conference and see other students from schools all over the nation. I am almost certain that I would never have had this opportunity at another university, and for that, I am grateful to have chosen UWP.
