I wanted to come to UWP because it s close to my family. I have five brothers and four sisters and I love to see them as much as I can. I also like how UWP is able to offer small class sizes. Each professor knows my name, making it easier for me to talk with him or her outside of class. The small class sizes also allow you to get to know the other students in your class. I find that students who share your major will be in a majority of your classes.
I am a very busy woman. I work two jobs, play softball and still manage to have enough time to dedicate to school. Sometimes it is difficult to study for an exam the next day or the four exams in one week, but everything always seems to work out. It is all about good time management. Coming from a large family, I have become very independent and have learned to effectively manage my time. I worked very hard and made a goal to graduate in four years. That is my goal and I am sticking to it. I graduate in May 2007.
My most memorable moments at UWP were spent with the UWP softball team. We have been on so many road trips, including a trip to Florida, and have played in a multitude of games together. The 6 a.m. practices are especially good bonding experiences. I will always remember the women of the softball team. It is hard to believe that this is my last year playing with them.
During the summer of 2006, I was able to do an internship with Breezy Hill Nursery, a landscape nursery, located in Salam, WI. I worked in several different departments learning about the many different aspects of business including greenhouse work, retail, wholesale, landscape design, irrigation and basic office procedures. I think it is essential to do an internship before graduation. I was able to see how things really worked inside a business and was able to further confirm that ornamental horticulture was the career field I wanted to pursue.
