The Building Construction Management program is a very good program. A student receives a really great introduction and knowledge needed to be involved in construction management. The Construction Lab class is one that is unique and a very valuable experience. Professor Albers and Dr. Shelstrom are both exceptional professors with a great deal of knowledge.
I’ve learned that money, school, and a career are nothing if you can’t be happy with who you are or what you are doing. I’ve learned to grow and progress; a person needs to challenge themselves at every opportunity and learn new things when given the opportunity. My mother prepared me well to be on my own, so there was not much adjustment needed. The only adjustment I did need to make was to prepare a budget (this is a must, if you don’t have one, make one, and stick to it). All the other adjustments I made go along with sticking to the budget.
I had an internship with Royal Construction in Eau Claire, WI. I was a site-superintendent in charge of a three-building multi-family housing project. I cannot say enough about the internship program. Internships bridge the gap between what we learn here and what is really going on in the real world.
Many of the memorable moments I have include times with my fraternity. Other memorable moments include: Game Night for AODA (September 2005), where I met my soul mate, the ABC Safety Conference with other CMA members (February 2004, 2005, and especially 2006), and trying to rollerblade down Pickard hill with Matt Davis.
