I always knew I wanted to be a tech ed teacher, and UWP was one of only a few schools in the state with a tech ed program. It is a great hands-on approach to learning. As a transfer student I am very grateful to all those who have helped me schedule and transfer my classes. UWP has a very friendly and helpful staff who are glad to always help students.
Dr. Frank Steck is an outstanding professor and advisor. He cares for his students' success in both school and life. He spends extra time working with the Tech Ed club and hosting events like our grill out. Dr. Kyle Metzloff is also a great professor. His enthusiasm for teaching in this area and metal helps to inspire students to do their best. He puts in countless hours pouring metal.
I've worked at a landscape and snowplow dealer for several years, gaining experience in welding, custom fabrication, and maintenance on machines, trucks and loaders. This has helped me to network with many others in the industry that I will work with in the future as a teacher developing co-op programs and helping students find careers.
While on campus I’ve been involved with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Campus Ministry, the Technology Education Association, the Society of Plastics Engineers, Students Planning for Success, and the Foundry Club. These have been great organizations to be a part of and at the same time meeting great people and making new friends.
