A perfect fit

When beginning my college search, I looked for a school that had a great engineering program, a collegiate softball team and a friendly atmosphere. UWP had all three and more. The professors made me feel at home and the quiet country setting made me feel relaxed and comfortable. The small class sizes at UWP really do help students learn more because professors are able to provide their students with individual attention. There are many outstanding professors here at UWP and the best characteristic about them is their willingness to help-especially after school hours. I couldn't imagine attending any other school!

Catching memories to last a lifetime

My involvement with the different clubs and organizations on campus has given me so many positive memories. Being part of the UWP softball team is a blast-it has allowed me to travel to Florida, California and Myrtle Beach. Softball has also taught me how to work with my teammates to achieve a common goal. Community activities like the annual Homecoming parade and campus activities such as comedians and musicians are a great way to get my mind off classes and spend time with friends. I have made lasting friendships by getting involved.

Internship offers reassurement in choice of major

This past summer, I worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a summer intern. I learned an insurmountable amount of information daily including field terminology, time management, computer applications, people skills and networking with different consultants and contractors. I strongly recommend that students participate in at least one co-op, internship or field study while in college. The internship took a lot of weight off of my shoulders because now I know, without a doubt, civil engineering is the right career path for me.
