Welcome To UW-Platteville
In order to help you adjust to life in college,we have a "New Student Orientation" for all incoming students at the beginning of each year. You will be given the opportunity to explore your campus and the Platteville community.
Every year we schedule many exciting events and activities that will help you to learn more about college life, and meet many of the other students on campus.
New Student Orientation for Fall 2009 will be Saturday, August 29 - Monday, August 31st. The first day of class will be Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Saturday, August 29
- 8:00 am – 2:00 pm - New Student Move-in
- 10:00 am – 5:00 pm - Textbook Center Open – Doudna (Pick-up a free planner and a free 5 subject shadow notebook) (DO NOT BRING YOUR BACKPACK OR BAGS WITH YOU…YOU’LL GET A BAG FROM THE TEXTBOOK CENTER) (BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR PIONEER PASSPORT)
- 2:00 pm – Off-Campus Student Check-in (Pioneer Student Center) (PSC) This check-in is for new non-traditional, commuter, and transfer students not living in the Residence Halls.
- 2:30 - 3:00pm - Goodbye Time for Parents, the time has come to let your new student LAUNCH!
- 3:00pm - Parent and Faculty Reception (PSC, Crossing)
- 3:30 pm - Depart with Hall Group to Platteville Chamber of Commerce Welcome Picnic & Merchant Scavenger Hunt with valuable Prizes (Picnic & Hunt begin at 4:00 pm) (Downtown Platteville with your Res. Hall or Campus Group)
- 5:00 pm - Meal in the Park & Chancellors Welcome with Music by “Extreme 107.1” (Downtown) (Prizes)
- 7:00 pm - Mandatory Residence Hall Meetings (Each Hall)
- 8:00 pm - Pep Band Welcome & Hangin’ with Hal with great Prizes (Fieldhouse)
- 9:00 pm - Welcome Social with Freezies and gift (PSC Lawn with Spiritual Organizations)
- 9:30 pm – Gameshow with CASH Prizes
Sunday, August 30
- Morning Worship Services - (Transportation provided from the corner of College and Greenwood.)
- 10:30 am – 1:00 pm - Brunch – (Glenview Commons)
- 12:00 pm - Residence Hall Gatherings (Individual Residence Halls)
- 12:20 – 4:15 pm - Student Information Sessions – (CFA, PSC, Ullsvik & the PAC) (New students will attend with their building or group. The more you attend, the more PRIZE) you can win!)
- 4:00 – 8:00 pm – Rockin’ Block Party with inflatable games & music by WSUP Campus Radio – (Block Halls & Student Organizations)
- 4:30 – 6:00 pm -Dinner – (Glenview Commons)
- 8:00 pm - Outdoor Movie (TBA) & Local Pizza Sampler– (Circle Halls)
- 10:00 pm – 1:00 am – Dance Party (Lower Level Glenview) (Prizes, TREATS) – Greek Life, Alum. Assoc. & CPR.
Monday, August 31
- 8:00 am – 7:00 pm - Textbook Center Open – Doudna (DO NOT BRING YOUR BACKPACK OR BAGS WITH YOU…YOU’LL GET A BAG FROM THE TEXTBOOK CENTER) (BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR PIONEER PASSPORT)
- 10:00 am – 12:00 pm - Vans to Wal-mart, Kmart, & Piggly Wiggly, Dollar Store, etc. (Departing from Glenview Parking Lot for those forgotten items)
- 10:30 am – 1:00 pm – Brunch – (Glenview Commons)
- TBA - In-Hall Programming ~Volleyball Tournament ~Texas Hold’em Tournament ~ Group Service Project ~ Dodge ball Tournament (See each hall schedule when you arrive)
- 4:30 – 6:00 pm – All Campus Welcome Dinner Celebration – (PSC) (Glenview closed)
- 7:00 pm - All Campus Welcome Festival – National Recording Artist, “Saving Jane”, Hypnotist Daniel James (Prizes) Inflatable games, & more (PSC West lawn & Crossing)
Tuesday, September 1
- 7:00 – 9:30 am Breakfast @ (Glenview Commons)
- Classes begin (Yippee!!!!)
- Lifesave Table
- Lifesaver Tables will be staffed by the UWP Student Ambassador Corps. Get help finding your way to class, find out how to drop or add a class, and grab some FREE CANDY! (Otts and Warner Halls.)
