What are the criteria for admission to UW-Platteville?

When can I apply?

  • Aug. 1: Applications for the following fall semester are available online at apply.wisconsin.edu
  • Sept. 1: Applications may be submitted
  • Sept. 15: Application review begins
Students with a complete application file typically receive notice of admission within two weeks.

Is there a deadline for applying?

There is no deadline for applying. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, and applications are processed as long as space is available or until enrollment goals have been met. 

What items are required for a complete application?

Do you require letters of recommendation?

Letters of recommendation are not required but may be requested of some applicants. View the Admission Guidelines for additional information.

Do I have to take the writing portion of the ACT or SAT?

At this time, the writing portion of the ACT and SAT is not required.

How long until I hear if I was admitted?

Students with a complete application file typically receive notice of admission within two weeks.

How can I check my application status?

Track your application status with Pioneer Administrative Software System (PASS). It’s your single place to view admission-related items, financial aid and other important steps. Username and password information is emailed to applied students. Log in to check your status today!

What happens after I'm admitted?

Already been admitted? Congratulations! Be sure to visit the Checklist for Admitted Students to make sure that you have your spot reserved in the upcoming class.

Does this mean that my spot is reserved?

There are several items that must be completed to ensure that your spot in the upcoming class. This includes paying your enrollment deposit and Residence Life prepayment, taking the UW System placement tests, and signing up for New Student Registration. How do I submit the enrollment deposit?

Log in to your PASS account to complete the enrollment agreement and $100 deposit.

What is the enrollment deposit? Is it refundable?

Completing the enrollment agreement and $100 deposit is the first step to reserving your place in the upcoming class. To get started, log in to your PASS account. For detailed instructions, visit www.uwplatt.edu/admission/enrollment-deposit.

For a refund of the enrollment deposit, a request must be made in writing to the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services. Requests received by the following dates are 100% refundable:

May 1 for fall applicants

November 1 for spring applicants

What is the residence life prepayment? Is it refundable?

Submitting your Residence Life e-agreement and $150 prepayment are the first steps to reserving your place in the residence halls. This prepayment will be applied to your account.

For a refund of the enrollment deposit, a request must be made in writing to the Department of Residence Life. $100 of the $150 prepayment is refundable for requests received by these dates:

May 1 for fall applicants

November 1 for spring applicants

Residence Life

Where can I live on campus?

UW-Platteville offers a variety of living options to choose from, including traditional and suite-style residence halls. Learn more about on-campus housing in our 13 residence halls through the Department of Residence Life.

Do I have to live on campus?

University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents policy states that all freshman and sophomore students must live in university residence halls unless they meet established criteria for exemption. View the details of the Residency Requirement.

When will I find out my housing assignment?

Housing assignments are processed in the order received and will be sent out in early July but only to students who have submitted the Residence Life E-application and pre-payment.

New Student Registration

What is New Student Registration?

New Student Registration is a day for incoming new students and their parents/guests to learn more about the transition to UW-Platteville. Students will also register for fall classes on this day with the assistance of faculty and peer advisors.  NSR is your first official day as a UW-Platteville Pioneer.
