Jessica Scott, Corey Digman, and Tony Fontanini each reached NCAA III provisional qualifying marks, leading the Pioneers at the six-school Wartburg Select meet Saturday.
Scott won the 1,500-meter run in 4:36.26, while Digman placed second in the discus at 160-08. He was also fourth in the hammer throw.
The Pioneer men were fourth with 98 points in a meet Augustana won with 173.75. The UWP women were sixth in their competition, won by UW-La Crosse.
As was the case during the indoor season, the UWP pole vaulters showed off their depth during the meet. Fontanani was second at 15-5, while Jacob Friberg was third at 14-11. Scott Howard added a fifth in that event.
Lynn Oyawiri was second in the 100-meter dash in 10.94 and also placed fourth in the 200 Teammate Mitch Spees was third in the 200 at 22.32. Andy Melby continued his strong start to the outdoor season, placing third in the 110 hurdles at 15.18.
For the women, Cassie Schneider took second in the long jump at 16-4.5 , and Alison Glendenning was runner-up in the 400 hurdles at 1:05.91.
The Pioneers are hosts of the ultra-competitive Nike/Impact Sports UW-Platteville Invitational Friday, beginning at 3 p.m.
