UW-Platteville won eight events while helping the University of Dubuque christen its new indoor track and field facility Saturday.
Corey Digman won twice for the Pioneers, including one in an NCAA Division III national championship provisional mark. He threw the weight 55-9.25 to make the nationals list and also won the shot put in 48-3.5.
Mitch Spees led a strong Pioneer showing in the 400, winning in 51.09. UWP grabbed five of the top seven spots in that race.
Three Pioneer females won their events: Liz Baker in the 55 dash in 7.58; Deidre Dillman in the 800 at 2:20.36; and Gabrielle Ethier in the triple jump at 34-9.5.
Other winners for the men were Andrew Melby in the 55 hurdles in 7.98; and Jon Balciar in the pole vault in 14-11 (tying teammate Scott Howard but having fewer attempts).
No team scores were kept in the 10-school invitational.
UW-Platteville competes at Wartburg next Saturday.
