Three UW-Platteville athletes earned All-District Five cross country and track and field academic honors by CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine.

Bellevue (Iowa) Marquette graduates Tony Kilburg and Nathan Petesch earned spots on the 11-person first team, while Jessica Scott was a second-team selection on the women's side.

The District Five College Division comprises all non-Division I schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, and Illinois. Sports information directors from schools in those states voted for the all-region awards. Both Kilburg and Petesch are now eligible for academic all-America honors.

Kilburg, who was an all-region and all-American academic selection in 2008, carries a 3.79 grade-point average in engineering physics and mathematics. He was a 2008 NCAA III national track champion who reached a national provisional qualifying mark this spring. Petesch holds a 3.92 g.p.a. and majors in geography and biology. He was the Pioneers' top finisher in all but one cross country race, earning all-region accolades, and was a third-place finisher in the conference 5,000-meter run.

Scott, a senior from Kiel, repeated as a second team selection. She has a 3.76 grade-point average with a biology/pre-physical therapy major. Scott earned all-America honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track. She was also the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference scholar-athlete in both cross country and indoor track and field.
