FACULTY POSITION IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-PLATTEVILLE. 

 

Position:

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks one assistant professor, tenure-track, starting August 2008.  This opening is for the initial staffing of the UWP outreach program in Mechanical Engineering offered at the UW Rock County campus in Janesville, WI.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in ME or a closely related field are required.  The doctoral degree requirements must be met by 30 May 2008.  The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach a broad spectrum of ME courses.  A particular emphasis for this position is the need for strong laboratory skills (teaching and development for both thermal systems and mechanical systems labs).  She/he must demonstrate a genuine interest in teaching undergraduates and possess good written and oral communication skills.  The successful candidate needs to have demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations.  Teaching experience, industrial experience, and professional registration are desirable. 

 

Responsibilities:

Professional and scholarly activities are expected, but quality teaching is the primary responsibility.  Additional responsibilities of the position include advising undergraduate students and university/community service.

Mechanical Engineering at UW - Platteville

ME is the largest of UWP’s ABET-accredited programs with about 100 graduates annually.  The UWP ME Program is delivered at the Platteville campus and a growing number of outreach campuses.  This opening is for the initial staffing of the UW Rock County campus, a developing outreach program in Janesville, WI.
